'Energies can transcend through the lens in modelling, and they’re more powerful than people may realise because they’re what makes us distinct. As a fashion designer, I invented my own scalp accessories and began using the empty spaces on my head as a canvas, until I noticed that every time I stepped outside, people around me were captivated by their eccentric beauty too and often asked about my background or to take pictures, especially photographers. But I never resonated with simple portraits, because modelling is a beautiful art form to me — one that can reveal the spirit behind the portrait, so I prefer an artistic approach because it creates a more meaningful connection with identity and self-expression. Beyond sharing inspiration and beauty, we can also bring unique stories into the light for people from all walks of life to resonate with, especially those with survival histories like mine, to encourage seeing modelling differently: as an art form where unique individuals can fully embrace who they are and rediscover their own aesthetics. To me, this artistic context gives the word ‘model’ a more innovative, meaningful perspective that is alive and more human.”
